Christianity in the News Media Report 2025

How is Christianity represented in the UK news media today?
Is the perception, widely felt within the Christian community that news coverage of faith is narrow and stereotyped, a valid one? If so, can Christians and the media work together to change this?
This report, commissioned by communications agency Jersey Road, seeks to answer these questions.
Jersey Road analysed the top 100 news stories each week for a year (based on the number of impressions), identifying recurrent themes and sentiment to build up a picture of media reporting of Christianity.
This report is the result. It reveals that:
- Negative stories about Christianity outweigh the positive
- There are large gaps in the media narrative about Christianity in the UK today
- But, as celebrities and Christian leaders speak out with confidence about their faith in the media, there are also significant opportunities to tell a different story
